The Native American Program supports American Indian/Alaska Native students at Lane Community College. The program's goals are to help students make a smooth transition to college. The program helps students identify available resources, provides follow-up services, and offers a variety of activities and events which enable students to learn about Native American culture, values, and traditions. Available resources include:
Referral services for academic, personal and career counseling.
Scholarship and financial aid information. Group interaction through social events.
Sponsorship and support for student organizations on campus for American Indian/Alaska Native students.
Liaison between students and tribal education programs.
The program coordinator serves as an on-campus advocate for the students between admissions, financial aid, Lane faculty, and other departments. In addition, the program provides information on the availability of appropriate scholarships.
